Folklore and Belonging. Debra Shutika In-Person
Join us for this Online Library Talk to hear Fulbright Scholar Debra Shutika talk about Folklore and Belonging
Folklore has long been recognised as an important aspect of cultural identity, but it is less often recognised as an essential to human connection and our sense of belonging. In this presentation, Debra will discuss the ways in which folklore shapes our sense of place and belonging and folklore’s place in a high-tech, often disconnected world.
Debra Shutika is a folklorist and mystery writer. For the 2022-23 academic year she is a Fulbright Scholar, teaching in ATU's Heritage Department, and conducting research in County Mayo in three Gaeltacht communities: Achill, Crossmolina, and Erris.
